The Coffee Table Book

Updated: May 25, 2019

I love coffee table books and am slightly addicted to buying and displaying them; in my humble opinion, a beautiful coffee table book is the perfect item to instantly elevate the decor of a room. Regardless of how you choose to decorate with them, whether it be stacked on a coffee table or displayed on a bookshelf, they are the perfect pop of color/finishing touch for any room.

Space in NYC is a precious commodity, so when decorating my apartment I was looking for furniture the was the perfect mix of fashionable and functional and that would provide surface and storage space. I excitedly bought the most fabulous vintage 70's three-tiered coffee table from One Kings Lane knowing it'd be the perfect item to chicly display my coffee table book collection. The books act as sort of shelving and allow for a cool way to display flower vases, candles and other decorative items at various heights. Way better than just leaving them flat on the table!

The second furniture purchase I made was this beautiful Daniella Buffet Console Table from Anthropologie. I fell in love with the gold and mother of pearl floral detail and it ended up being the perfect fit for under my living room TV. I proceeded to stack color-coordinated coffee table books in shades of pink, orange, yellow and blue on top of it. The rainbow stacking played perfectly into my feminine, bachelorette-chic themed apartment and the neutrals of the console table made the books pop! It makes me happy literally every time I look at it! I need one more pink book to fully realize my console table display vision. I currently have my eye 'Queens: Alta Moda di Dolce & Gabbana'.

You can find fabulous coffee table books, both new and gently used, on Amazon. Every time I go to make a practical order on Amazon, I have to resist adding yet another coffee table book into my cart. Assouline and Abrams, the publishers behind many of the coffee table books you're likely familiar with (The Big Book of Chic, Yves Saint Laurent, Chic Stays, etc.) both have fabulous websites that let you browse and buy their titles. It's my guilty pleasure to scroll through them.

Below, I posted some of my favorite coffee table books that I've collected over the years. So many are still in storage and I need to find a bigger apartment ASAP in order to house them all! Do you love to collect/decorate with coffee table books? What are some of your favorites? Let me know below!

XOXO, Paige
