Trying to shop for gifts for my Father may be the most difficult task I ever encounter. This is a sentiment I hear from most people. If my Dad wants something, he gets it for himself, which makes gift giving a bit tricky. Still I persevere.
I put together a collection of items I think make fabulous Father's Day gifts. Each item I've listed below is something I've actually gifted to someone, be it my Dad, my brothers, or Jer. They've all received raving reviews from the recipients, so now I'm bringing them to you!
All the info and links are listed below - Happy Shopping!
All the details:
An elegant coffee table book - I gave my Dad, the ultimate car connoisseur, this book for Father's Day 2020. It's incredible. I am a coffee table book addict, so I see these books as investments in interior design. All the books in the Assouline 'Impossible Collection', while amazing, are quite expensive. Luckily, they have titles upon titles of fabulous books for under $100. I truly find a coffee table book, targeting the recipient's interests, to be the perfect gift for anything and everything.
Fabric Shaver - Everyone needs one of these. EVERYONE. So if your father is the practical type who loves a fabulous sweater, like mine, this is a no brainer.
A vintage inspired speaker with all the bells & whistles - We recently bought this for our London home and it is just so lovely to look at. With a variety of colors, shapes and sizes, it blends in perfectly with any decor without sacrificing technology, bluetooth capability or sound quality.
A smart set of stationary - I love stationary. There is just something so chic and timeless about a handwritten note, especially when it's written on thick, high quality paper stock. My parents are both firm believers in the handwritten note, so I love the idea of gifting them new stationery.
A universally flattering pair of sunglasses - These are Jer's favorite sunglasses. After buying them in the Fall of 2019, he loved them so much he proceeded to get them in every color way available. Seeing how nice they looked on Jerry, we bought my brother's each a pair as gifts and they look just as good on them! I'm telling you - universally flattering!
A fun, high quality pair of swim trunks - When I first started dating Jerry, we were going to Naples for the weekend and I sent him a picture of a random swimsuit to which he responded: "I'm a Vilebrequin guy." Duly noted, and I certainly see why. These swimsuits are so fun and the quality can't be beat. So, while they're pricey, they do last. Jerry is still wearing pairs he bought nearly a decade ago. For those new Father's, they have patterns that match the entire family, from Mom to baby!
Theragun - No matter how hard I try, I don't often win at the gift giving game with my Dad. One very notable exception was Christmas last year when we got him the Theragun. He loved it, I loved it, my brother's repeatedly tried to steal it. Really, it's a gift for the whole family!
A James Bond inspired shirt - This exact shirt is something Becks and I bought for my Dad when we were picking up a couple shirts for my Brother. The 60's era style just screamed John Allen and it looks fabulous on him. If your Father/Husband isn't quite as out there with their style, any shirt, short, shoe, etc. from Orlebar Brown will be an instant hit!
A glass that holds both their whiskey and their cigar - Bought these for all the men in my life this past Christmas. Whiskey and cigars? Self-explanatory about why they loved it!
A really chic shave set - I'm dating a bearded man and those of my brothers who are capable of growing beards (sorry guys!) have them, but my Dad, like so many in his generation, is a firm believer in a clean shave (you often hear him saying "go get a shave" to one brother or another). What better way to honor that than with this museum quality brush and razor set -step aside Gillette!
A fabulous notebook - I'm a big notes and lists girl. I get that from my parents. For as long as I can remember my Father has been a fan of the yellow legal pad, but who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Customize it with their initials for a little extra something, something!
A fleet of sumptuous beauty products - Nécessaire products live up to the hype! Nice bath products are something I know my Dad isn't likely to buy for himself, but will end up loving. Find a nice male focused spa or barber shop and get him a gift card and pair it with the Nécessaire body wash, exfoliator and lotion for the perfect self-care gift!
A signature scent - My Dad has a signature scent (Jean Paul Gaultier's 'Le Male') and I would never dare change that. It smells like him and is such a comforting scent to me. That said, if your Father doesn't have a go-to cologne or isn't one to splurge on it, take it upon yourself to find him something nice. I love anything by Tom Ford. The scents are meant to all be unisex, but there are some fabulously musky and masculine scents that are to die for.
An elevated foam roller - My Dad swears by foam rolling, so when I saw this one by Theragun, I knew he had to have it. Foam rolling, but make it fashion, as the kids would say!
A posh nail kit - My dad is king of the nail judgers. I have chipped nail polish? Judgement! One of my brother's toenails are a wee bit overgrown? Judgement! That said, my Dad's hands always look splendid while mine rarely do, so he's clearly on to something.
