I know I did a blog post speaking to the amazingness of a fab one-piece swimsuit, that doesn't mean I've turned against bikinis. While I have nothing against it, I was never able to pull off the teeny-tiny bikini trend (or that thong swimsuit trend for that matter), so I'm loving that this season's swimsuits are featuring a lot of high-waists, off-the-shoulders, and cool and different necklines. As well, the colors and patterns are on point! As you all know, I'm a major sucker for some color (rebelling against the NYC uniform of dark colors).
Below I listed some of the bikinis I'm coveting and lusting after at the moment. Like I said in my post on one-pieces, swimsuits more on the spendyy side are an investment. If you take care of your swimsuits properly and make sure to get all the chlorine/salt water/sunscreen off them after each wear, a well-made swimsuit can last YEARS! Growing up in Florida I was always in a suit and I was very good about taking care of them. The swimsuits I paid up for and invested in have been in my drawers for years, while with the cheap ones (though no less well taken care of), I'd be lucky if I was able squeeze two seasons out of them.
This is not to say I don't still buy the occasional cheap swimsuit for an event or party, but my whole mentality since graduating college and moving to NYC (need all the space I can get) has been to focus on quality over quantity. A smaller amount of truly great investment pieces over a ton of cheap and trendy items. That goes for more than just dress clothes and purses; a swimsuit is an investment piece! Being in public in a swimsuit can be a bit nerve wracking, so find a fabulous one that makes you feel confident and beautiful and TREAT YOURSELF. And after you treat yourself, make sure you take care of it by using a good swimsuit wash. My favorites can be found here and here! Happy swimming!
