While I love buying swimsuits (shopping for them, not so much. Trying out swimsuits is actually a form of torture!) I've never been great about buying cover-ups. I'm one who would rather spend more money on a really fabulous and well-fitting swimsuit and don't want to throw down more money for a cute matching cover-ups.
In the past, I had my go-to swimsuits cover-ups (which were birthday presents) that I wore all the time. Recently, as I've had to buy more swimsuits to meet bachelorette party themes, I've turned over a new leaf when it comes to splurging on a cute cover-up. And now that I've started, I can't stop!
There is nothing as chic as a really put together pool/beach look! While good quality cover-ups can be a bit of a splurge if you take care of them properly, you can have them for years! I tend to look for cover-ups that can double as an outfit away from the beach. Dresses that can be thrown on with wedges and instantly be dinner ready, tops that can be styled with white jeans and sandals, sarongs that double as a chic travel scarf, and skirts that look just as cute with a tee and sneakers as they do with a bikini.
